"Another low pressure area has formed today over Saurashtra and Kutch and adjoining Northeast Arabian Sea," said Sarat Sahu, the director of IMD, Bhubaneswar.
The IMD in its afternoon bulletin said yesterday's low pressure area over central parts of south Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Vidarbha shifted to northwest Madhya Pradesh and its neighbourhood today.
Predicting heavy rainfall at one or two places in interior Odisha districts during the next 24 hours, the weather office said gusty surface winds at the speed of 45-50 kmph to 60 kmph may prevail along and off the coast in the state.
Special Relief Commissioner P K Mohapatra said the state government was watching the situation.
He ruled out possibility of any floods in view of the heavy rains.
