As per 'girdwari' (crop assessment) reports of the collectors in 17 districts, 10,225 villages were found scarcity-hit, said a spokesman, quoting an official notification issued to this effect.
The notification would be effective till July 3, 2014, he said.
The Calamity Relief and Management Department assessed 104 villages of Ajmer, two in Alwar, 1,501 in Banswara, 1,507 in Barmer, 1,072 in Jhalawar, 1,008 in Pratapgarh, 482 in Baran, 339 in Bikaner, 986 in Dungarpur, 934 in Pali and villages in other districts.
