The German National Tourism Office has been working on behalf of the German government to promote Germany as a travel destination for more than 60 years.
"The tourist arrivals from India has been increasing five per cent year-on-year. The latest figures for January-November 2013 is about 584,000. Actually, out of this number, more than 50 per cent have been repeat Indians or frequent flyers visiting Germany," German National Tourist Office, Director (Marketing and Sales Office in India), Romit Theophilus said.
Due to increase in number of Indian travellers to Germany, he said the German National Tourist Office was expecting about six lakh Indian Nationals to visit their country, this year.
"Basically, April-August is start of the season. Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne are the best places to see during this time..", he said.
Giving some statistics, he said five lakh Indian Nationals visit Switzerland every year, United Kingdom attracted about 150,000 "clearly making Germany as the preferred tourist destination in Europe".
