More than 96% candidates appear for EAMCET in Krishna district

The Engineering Agriculture Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) was taken by 96 per cent of candidates in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district on Friday, despite the strike by Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) employees, it was officially announced here today.
Candidates braved the strike and took the test by reaching venues using alternative modes of transport.
According to a press release issued by Krishna District Collector A Babu, out of 25,285 candidates who applied for the engineering stream, 24,776 candidates appeared in both Vijayawada and Machilipatnam centres in the morning.
In the evening, out of 18,266 candidates who applied, 17,745 candidates who opted for medical and agricultural streams took the test, the release stated.
Collector informed that to avoid the trouble for the students in view of strike by APSRTC employees,
Private vehicles were provided to candidates free of cost to reach test centres from various parts of the district, the release said.
In the release, the collector appreciated efforts made by the police in making available police vehicles to candidates to reach test centres.
Police Commissioner A B Venkateswara Rao had pressed all police vehicles into service, including two wheelers, to carry candidates to test centres, the release said.
