Some of the successful candidates of last year's civil services examination were felicitated by Union Minister Jitendra Singh here today.
Fourteen candidates, including a physically handicapped allocated IAS, who have occupied high ranks in the civil services examination-2013 were present during the function, a press release issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.
The Minister handed over joining letters to these candidates, hailing from National Capital Region only, who were invited to the function due to shortage of time to include others, it said.
In his opening remarks, Singh said this is the time to encourage these young men and women, own them as part of our government and motivate them to the service of the people.
He said the Indian civil services have evolved in the six decades since independence from its aura of colonial British empire to an Indian milieu of humility.
Singh, Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office, called upon the young administrators to undo the cynicism of the last few years and rise to the challenges in the service of the common man.
