Mother and infant burnt alive for dowry

A 24-year-old woman and her minor daughter were allegedly burnt alive for dowry in Rampur Asli village here, police said today.
The incident occurred yesterday when Neelam Singh and her one-year-old daughter were allegedly set ablaze, SP Manoj Kumar Jha said, adding she was married to one Pankaj Singh on March 2, 2014.
According to the FIR lodged by her brother, the victim was being harassed for dowry soon after her marriage.
The in-laws along with the pradhan of the village have been booked and further investigations are underway, the SP said, adding her husband was not present in the house at the time of incident.
