Three women, including a mother and daughter, were today charged by a UK court in a rare, all- female alleged plot of a terrorist act and conspiracy to murder, police said.
Mina Dich, who was arrested from Kent in south-east England on April 27, and her daughter Rizlaine Boular, arrested from central London on April 30, appeared before Westminster Magistrates' Court in London today along with Khawla Barghouthi, also arrested last month from north-west London as part of a Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command operation.
All three are charged with the preparation of a terrorist act, contrary to Section 5 of the UK's Terrorism Act, and conspiracy to murder, Scotland Yard said.
They have been remanded in custody to appear at a preliminary hearing on May 19.
Boular, 21, and Dich, 43, appeared in court wearing Islamic dress, including full-face veils, which were partially lifted to show their eyes at the request of chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnot.
Bargouthi, 20, wore Islamic dress but her face was visible.

The women are accused of conspiring together to murder a person or persons unknown between 11 and 28 April 2017.
Boular is additionally charged with engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism, while the other defendants are accused of assisting her.
Another seven people arrested during the same Scotland Yard investigation last month have now been released with no further action taken.
Britain has been on its second-highest alert level of "severe" since August 2014, meaning an attack by militants is considered highly likely.
