Mother kills her child, self

Fed up of the torture at the hands of her husband, a woman allegedly committed suicide after killing her child in Raipur village here.
Hema (26), a resident of Raipur village in Ghatampur, was married to Ismailpur resident Satish eight years ago and they had a four-year-old son, Abhilash, a police spokesperson said.
Satish, a labourer, used to beat up his wife after getting drunk, police said. Hema returned to her maternal home with her son a year ago, police said.
However, her ordeal didn't come to an end as Satish visited her three days ago and fought with her. Upset with this, Hema ultimately took the extreme step after forcing her son to consume some toxic substance, they said.

When Hema's mother reached home yesterday evening, she saw the duo lying unconscious. They were rushed to hospital where they were declared dead.
Police have sent both the bodies for postmortem and a case has been registered in this connection. An investigation has been initiated in this case, the spokesperson said.
