The realtor, Arumugam, hailing from Tirupur, was beaten to death at the house of the councillor Vatsala on March 26 and five persons, including Kanakaraj, were arrested in this connection.
Kanakaraj's wife, along with one-year-old child, and his mother, Thulasimani, arrived at the Collectorate and submitted a memorandum seeking steps to secure his release stating that he was innocent.
Police came to the house and took Kanakaraj away, without telling anything, while he was getting ready to go to the factory the next day, she said.
Claiming that her son had no role in the murder, Thulasimani sought the intervention of the collector for his early release.
