Mother tonsures teenaged girl to save her from being raped

Fearing that her daughter would be raped again, a lady from Kalwa tonsured her daughter to make her look ugly a couple of days ago, police sources said here today.
It was some six months ago that two youth raped the girl after which they had threatened to rape her again, police sources said.
The 13 year-old girl lives with her parents in the Shanti Nagar slum colony of Kalwa and it was on July 30, 2014, she was molested by the two youth, police sources said.
The Kalwa police had arrested one Babu alias Mohammad Liyakat Ali Mullah (22) and a 16-year-old boy in connection with the crime.

However, the youth forced the girl's family members to withdraw the case against them. The girl's family members were also beaten up and terrorised by the duo.
Babu who is out on bail also threatened the girl's family members and warned that if they did not withdraw the complaint, he would rape the girl again.

The terrorised family members of the girl met senior police officers after which offences were registered against the duo.
However, fearing the worst, the girl's mother tonsured her to make her look ugly so that she would not have to suffer rape once again at the hands of the accused.

It was on July 30, when the girl had gone out to answer nature's calls.
The accused who have been identified as Babu and Rohit raped her, the complaint had stated.
The Kalwa police booked the duo under Section 376, Section 342, Section 354, read with Section 34 and Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code as well as Section 8 of the POCSO Act, 2012.
