Held under the aegis of State Child Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) in collaboration with Childline Kohima and Dimapur, the House decided that SCPCR as the convener would initiate follow-up action plans for child protection in the state by sensitizing government departments, civil societies and general public on the rights of a child.
The committee would include representatives from State Child Protection Society (SCPS), Legal Services, Police, Labour Department, Education Department, All Nagaland Private School Association (ANPSA), Childline, Church, Student body, Village Child Protection Committee etc.
Meanwhile, addressing the stakeholders during the consultation, Kohima Deputy Commissioner Rovilatuo Mor said, it is an irony that children are abused by the matured section of the society.
On the rise in juvenile crimes and sexual abuse of children, Mor urged various sections of the society to spare no effort in sensitizing the children on their rights and eliminate all abuses.
SCPCR member Diethono Nakhro child rights violations are very much prevalent in Nagaland, but most of them are unseen, unknown and goes unreported.
Director of Childline Dimapur, K Ela, requested the government to consult the various bodies working on the field, before passing the Juvenile Justice Act 2015.
