Movies shying away from truth is just hypocrisy: Dr Biju

National award-winning director Biju Damodaran today said cinema as a medium cannot stay away from facts and he strongly believes that it is just hypocrisy to shadow documented truths.
"Cinema as a medium cannot stay away from the facts and I strongly believe that it is just hypocrisy to shadow the truths which are documented," he said.
He was speaking during a 'Meet the Director' session, organised on the sidelines of the ongoing International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) here.
He also said that directors, as individuals, should strongly stand on their ideologies to criticise society when it goes wrong.

"There is no point in making a film if you turn blind towards the wrongdoings in your society," Biju, who is participating in the festival with his movie 'Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal', said.
"Actors should work for a movie without any convictions from his past. This makes us easier to mould the character in him and make it behave so," he said.
Kalpana Ariyawansa, the Sri Lankan director, who is in the festival with his debut movie "Premayanam- Dirty, Yellow Darkness", also spoke during the session.
"The movie, which is based on a true life incident, is a debut attempt by me and my brother, Vindana Ariyawansa. The film revolves around a man with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) for which love is the only prescription," said Kalpana.
