Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today announced that the aid under the Disabled Persons Marriage Scheme has been increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000.
He made the announcement after attending a mass marriage function -- in which 51 disabled couples participated -- organised by the district administration under the 'Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana' at Hoshangabad.
The hike would be applicable for those who tied the knot at today's function, Chouhan said, according to an official release.
He also said that such mass marriages should also be held in all districts of the state.
Every possible assistance for employment will be extended to the couples who got married at today's function, he said, adding that such couples will also be provided six per cent reservation in government jobs.
Presiding over the function, Assembly Speaker Sitasaran Sharma said other states had replicated the Madhya Pradesh government's welfare schemes.
