A local councillor of the BJP has been booked for allegedly ransacking the call centre of a Madhya Pradesh government-run power company in Dewas and assaulting its employee, police said today.

The alleged incident was captured on CCTV cameras.

"Councillor Babu Yadav (35) and another person entered the call centre located on AB Road on Friday (June 1) night and started slapping an employee of the company. They also damaged the computer in the office," said City Kotwali police station in-charge Rajiv Singh Bhadoriya.

He said the employee, identified as Akshay Chowdhary, submitted CCTV footage of the alleged incident along with the complaint.

Sources said Yadav got annoyed after he failed to get a proper response to his complaint.

He has been booked under sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt), 427 (Mischief causing damage), and 34 (Acts done by several persons with common intention) of the IPC.

Police are yet to make any arrests, Bhadoriya said, adding that further investigations are underway.
