MP BJP government rolls out food security sops to more people

The Madhya Pradesh government rolled out the benefits of its Food Security Scheme today to sections of society registered under various social welfare schemes to bring maximum people under the food security net.
At a cabinet meeting chaired by MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, it was decided to extend benefits of the Food Security Scheme by providing a kilogram of wheat for Rs 1, a kg of rice for Rs 2 and a kg of salt.
Beneficiaries would include labourers registered with the MP Bhawan Tahtha Anya Sannirman Mandal, rural landless labourers registered with the Mukhya Mantri Majdoor Suraksha Scheme, beneficiaries of the Cycle Rickshaw Chalak Kalyan Yojna and Haath Thela Chalak Kalyan Yojna in urban areas, those residing in orphanages, asylums for the handicapped and inmates of old age homes, Cabinet Spokesman and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra told reporters.
A total of 5.46 crore people including those holding Antyodaya and BPL cards will be gain from the scheme, he said.
