MP: Block medical officer held for accepting bribe

A Block Medical Officer and his associate were arrested by Lokayukta Police today for allegedly accepting Rs 9,000 bribe from director of a private hospital in Pandhana village in the district.
Dr Hiralal Borasia and Block Extension Educator Dharmendra Singh Rai were held for allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe from Dr Surendra Chouhan, director of a private hospital in Dongargaon.
"The duo had sought the illegal gratification to suppress adverse inspection report against Chouhan's hospital," said DSP, Lokayukta, G D Sharma.
Borasia and Rai had seized some medicines and other medical equipment from Chouhan's hospital during inspection.
The DSP said Borasia had threatened Chouhan to frame him in false charges and get him arrested if he did not pay the bribe of Rs 9,000.
Borasia was apprehended when he was accepting the sum from Chouhan. Police later arrested Rai as well.
A case has been registered in this regard against the duo and further investigations are on.
