Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan worshipped at a temple in Janapav, the birth place of Lord Parashurama and promised to develop the holy place into a major eco-religious tourism centre of Madhya Pradesh.
He took part in rituals organised at the Shiva temple which is believed to have been founded by Maharshi Jamdagni, the father of Lord Parashuram, some 40 km from Indore district headquarters.
Later, he took a round of the holy place and saw the pond situated on the hilltop, adjacent to the temple of Parashuram who is considered the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
"Money will never be a hurdle in developing Janapav and it will be developed as a major eco-religious tourism centre of the state," he told at a gathering of the faithful.
He said that the recently-built guest house, adjacent to the Janapav temple would be named after a senior BJP leader and a leading farmer of the region, Ashok Patidar, who died of cardiac arrest at the same spot last week.
Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Indore district panchayat president Kavita Patidar, MLA Ramesh Mendola and others were present at the function.
