"The Chief Minister always says he is a well-wisher and friend of farmers but this is not borne out by his actions," Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Ajay Singh said while talking to the media here.
Ajay said he yesterday visited Katni district, where land belonging to farmers had been "forcibly" acquired by the Government for a power plant to be constructed by a private company.
No relief or rehabilitation package had been provided to the affected farmers. Moreover, the company has not finalised coal linkages to run the plant, the Congress leader claimed.
"If Chouhan is really a well-wisher of farmers, he should resign and sit with the farmers who are protesting against the power plant," Ajay said.
Earlier in the day, the Congress leader said what is happening in Katni district, where residents of two villages Dokariya and Bujbuja, had been opposing land acquisition, has exposed "anti-farmer" face of the BJP Government.
