A 60-year-old head constable allegedly killed himself by hanging in a room inside a police station here in the early hours today, police said.
"Gajendra Singh Badhoria wearing uniform was found hanging from the hook of a ceiling fan in the second floor room of the SC/ST police station in Civil Lines area this morning," district superintendent of police Anshuman Singh told PTI.
The officer said Badhoria used rope to prepare the noose for committing the act.
The incident came to light at the time of change of duty when the deceased head constable's reliever started looking for him, the SP said.
"Badhoria was alone in the police station in night hours. While looking for the head constable, the reliever policeman found him hanging," Singh said.
Citing footage of cameras installed in the police station, the SP said Badhoria probably killed himself between 1 am and 1.30 am.
