MP: Cops unearth ill-gotten assets worth Rs 1-cr from Patwari

Lokayukta Police today seized alleged disproportionate assets worth over Rs one crore after conducting raids at two residences of a revenue official here.
"The raids were conducted simultaneously at Santosh Singh Thakur's places in Jabalpur's Shukla Nagar and Bhedaghat areas," DSP of Lokayukta Police M S Dhurve told reporters.
From Bhedhaghat residence, sleuths unearthed properties including an ancestral house, a newly-constructed home and documents related to four shops located at Bhedaghat Square, besides an Indigo car, a Sumo jeep and four two-wheelers.
They also found Rs 58,000 in cash and jewellery worth nearly Rs one lakh from there.
From Shukla Nagar residence of Thakur, cops seized FDRs worth Rs 8.65 lakh and also found Rs 3.35 lakh in seven bank accounts, gold and silver jewellery worth Rs two lakh and insurance policies worth Rs 1.5 lakh.
They also found documents related to another house in the area and also a row-house in Pananagar.
The value of these assets is over Rs one crore, the DSP said.
The orders for the raid were given by district collector, following which a search warrant was issued by a special court in this regard.
