MP: Five arrested for assaulting toll booth staff

A youth, who claimed to be the son of Maharashtra Water Conservation Minister Nitin Raut, and his four associates were arrested by police here today for allegedly beating up Matkuli Toll Booth employees and a forest official.
The incident took place on the intervening night of June 25-26.
The youth, identified as Kunal, and his friends were on their way to Pachmari hill station in Madhya Pradesh when they had an argument with toll booth staff on the issue of paying the toll.
They went on to beat up the staff, a forest ranger and other forest employees, Additional Superintendent of Police Amrit Meena said.
Later they also thrashed Babloo, a worker who was cleaning the bridge on river Denva, Meena said.
Police nabbed the accused as they were returning from Pachmari and passed through the same toll barrier. The toll booth staff alerted the police.

Besides Kunal, others were identified as Sangeet Singh, Shoab, Swapnil and Navjyot, all residents of Nagpur. They were produced before magistrate who denied them bail and sent them to judicial custody till July 8.
A case under sections 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 353 (assaulting public servant) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.
Meanwhile, minister Raut or his staff in Mumbai could not be contacted for confirming if his son was involved in any such incident.
