Acting on a complaint filed by Indore-based Dr Anand Rai, the Madhya Pradesh Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (MPAFRC) imposed fine on these colleges who have filled as many as 158 seats through management quota allegedly by flouting rules, an Committee official said today.
A meeting of MPAFRC members held here yesterday discussed the request made by the state government to take action against the colleges in this regard.
"The committee has directed the colleges to deposit the amount within two months otherwise they will be fined 12 per cent interest per annum," said MPAFRC Secretary Dr Sunil Kumar.
He said that the amount to be collected in fine from the colleges will be deposited in the Higher Education Loan Fund of the state government and will be utilised to provide assistance to students seeking help or loan to pursue higher education.
