MP govt's Lok Seva Guarantee Act gets UNPSA award

"The Department of Public Service Management of the state has been awarded second place in UNSPA for its Lok Seva Guarantee Act, 2010, in the category 'Improving the delivery of Public Services'," Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told reporters here today.

The nominations for 2012 UNPSA programme were accepted from September 15 to December 31, 2011, and after a series of evaluations by the UN Committee of Experts on Public Administration, the results were declared on May 7.

The state bagged the prestigious award from among 471 nominations from 73 countries, he said.

The United Nations Division for Public Administration and Development Management also sent a congratulatory letter to the Principal Secretary of the state's Public Service Delivery Management Department.

The state has also been invited to attend the 2012 UN Public Service Day Awards ceremony, which will take place in New York from June 25-28.

The United Nations Public Service Award is a prestigious international recognition for excellence in public service.
