MP govt seeks Centre's nod to prosecute suspended IAS officers

The Madhya Pradesh government has recently written a letter to the Centre seeking permission to prosecute suspended IAS officers - Arvind Joshi and his wife Tinu Joshi, official sources said.
The state government has also sought the Centre's permission for their dismissal, they said.
The state government had six months back sent a letter seeking permission for the dismissal of the two.
The Centre had then returned the letter on the ground that it was not accompanied by statements of the two IAS officers.
Following this, the General Administration Department (GAD) had recorded their statements and an amended proposal was sent to the Chief Minister, who approved it.

Arvind and Tinu Joshi, both 1979 batch IAS officers, hogged the news after the income tax department raided their residence in February 2010 and unearthed assets valued at Rs 360 crore. While Arvind Joshi was posted as Principal Secretary of Jail, Tinu was the Secretary to the Women and Child Development Department.
Soon after the raids, the couple was placed under suspension by the state government.
A raid by income tax at the official residence of Joshi couple had yielded over Rs 3 crore in cash and documents of other assets,which were "grossly disproportionate" to their known sources of income, sources had said.
