MP govt to allot land to NTPC for super thermal power plant

The decision was taken at the state Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan last evening, official sources said.

NTPC will be allotted 154.156-hectare for the 6X660 MW plant at villages Sandni and Baraithi in Chhattarpur district for Rs 5 lakh per acre or the prevailing market rate as per the guideline, whichever is higher.

The power major was also allotted 128.797 hectares in Narsinghpur district's Mehrakheda, Choberhata, Gangai, Umaria, Dongargaon and Kuradi villages on the same conditions for setting up another 4x660 MW super thermal power plant.

The Cabinet also approved the ambitious Chief Minister Urban Infrastructure Development scheme for the proper development of urban areas of the state.

Under the scheme, basic infrastructure like roads, beautification of cities, social infrastructure, gardens, heritage conservation and tourism, among other things, would be developed in the areas that come under local civic bodies.

For the current financial year, Rs 1,428 crore will be earmarked under the scheme to carry out various developmental works, sources said.
