MP govt to build 34,000 toilets for Ujjain kumbh mela

In order to check open defecation during the month-long Simhastha (Kumbh) mela in Ujjain district beginning from April 22, Madhya Pradesh government will construct 34,000 toilets.
"Besides constructing 34,000 new toilets, the local authorities are also setting up 10,000 urinals and 15,000 bathrooms," a government public relations officer said.
Arrangements are being made to collect 300 metric tons of garbage daily from the city and 1,000 metric tons and 1,200 metric tons from Simhastha site daily during the religious event, he added.
A Rs 117 crore plan has been blueprinted to keep Ujjain clean during Simhastha, which is held once in 12 years.
