In view of the objections raised by the mill owners and traders, the Madhya Pradesh government today said it will review the imposition of stock limits on pulses.
Madhya Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Minister Vijay Shah today held a meeting with the mill owners and traders.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, the minister said, "I heard what the mill owners and traders had to say over the government's October 17 of stock limits on pulses. After holding talks with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, this limit will be reviewed."
Shah said he would visit some mills to get the first-hand knowledge to decide as to what should be the stock limits on pulses for traders.
"The government's recent move to impose a limit of stock has brought down the prices of the item to some extent and brought some relief to people," he added.
MP government imposed a limit on storage of pulses to do away with its hoarding and black-marketing.
Earlier, MP (Dal) Pulses Industries Federation Suresh Agrawal told reporters that the government has set the pulses stocking limit to 2,000 quintals in big cities, which was "very impractical" and said the ceiling should be hiked to 6,000 quintals.
Agrawal claimed the federation was the voice of 700 pulse mill owners.
