Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav has directed the state government to correct the word 'Sindhu' to 'Sindh' in the National Anthem published incorrectly in various text-books of MP State Board.
Yadav said he had also observed in some universities in the state that people made the same mistake while singing the anthem and issued directives in this regard last month.
"I had observed during my visit to universities and other educational institutions that 'Sindh' was sung as 'Sindhu' in our National Anthem.
"In text books (MP State Board) as well, Sindh was mentioned as 'Sindhu', following which I have written a letter to the government and Vice Chancellors of different universities to rectify it," the Governor told PTI.
Even the 2014 official diary of Madhya Pradesh Government mentions 'Sindhu' in place of 'Sindh' in the national anthem published.
In a similar faux pas, Yadav said wrong facts were published in class 10th and 12th text books of the MP State Board on Maratha leader of the 1857 uprising Tatya Tope.

Yadav, who has also penned the book 'Amar Shaheed Tatya Tope', mentions in the book that during his visit to Shivpuri district, he came to know that incorrect facts were printed in two textbooks about hanging of Tatya Tope.
Yadav mentioned in the preface of his book, "In a 10th standard Social Science book's Chapter Seven, page number 110 stated that Tatya Tope was hanged by Britishers after trial on April 18, 1959 and in the same book at page number 145, it was mentioned that he was arrested because one of his friend ditched him and later he was hanged in Shivpuri."
"In Chapter Six of class 12th Hindi textbook 'Swati', it was mentioned that in place of Tatya Tope, Britishers hanged someone else," the Governor highlighted.
The Governor said that after verifying the facts he had written a letter to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and School Education Minister in this regard early this year, following which the chapters were removed from the Social Science and Hindi textbooks for the current academic session and instructions were given to include the chapters from next year with right facts.
