The Madhya Pradesh Assembly was today adjourned for the day after Congress members created ruckus by staging protests in the well of the House demanding an adjournment motion on the issue of alleged murderous attack on its MLA, Saurabh Singh.
Singh, who represented Bahoriband Assembly seat was allegedly attacked by BJP workers during the recent local body elections in which the saffron party won majority of seats.
The House was adjourned for the day by the Speaker Sitasharan Sharma after transacting the listed business of the House amid din when Congress members did not heed to his advice of going back to their respective seats and raise the issue in a proper manner.
As the House assembled on the opening day of the five-day-long winter session, the Speaker administered oath to the newly elected BJP MLAs Sanjay Pathak and Gopal Parmar and nominated Anglo-Indian legislator Loren B Lobo.
But when the injured MLA (Singh) was carted out to take oath in a wheelchair, some members of Congress, especially Nayak shouted that lawlessness was prevailing in the state and even an elected representative was not secure.
Later, the Speaker mentioned about the passing away of former Union Ministers Abdul Rehman Antuley and Murli Deora and member of the first Lok Sabha, Reshamlal Jangde and other Ex-MLAs including Khuman Singh Raghuwanshi, Shiv Pratap Singh and Suresh Choudhry.
The House after paying rich tributes to them was adjourned by the Speaker for five minutes.
