A man allegedly conspired with his mother, brother-in-law and an occultist to kill his wife reportedly after she bore three children, all girls, and not a boy as he wanted, in Khaneta village here, police said today.
The accused have been identified as Lakhan Kirar (38), his mother, his brother-in-law Bhagchand, and an occultist Motiram Jatav, Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP) Raghuwansh Singh said.
The victim, Mala Kirar (30), married Lakhan Kirar in 2004. After marriage, all the three children she bore were girls. However, Lakhan wanted a boy child, over which he decided to marry again and, along with the three accomplices, plotted to kill Mala, he said.
Lakhan, along with his mother and Bhagchand, convinced Mala for a 'treatment' by Jatav, which, they said, would help in bearing a boy, he said.
The accused later brought the victim to a well in Khaneta village, where Jatav and Bhagchand consumed liquor and strangulated her to death. The duo then raped her and threw the body into the well, he said.
Lakhan then filed a missing report with the Gwalior Police in an attempt to mislead the investigation, he said.
