A decision in this regard was taken by the state cabinet, chaired by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
After the cabinet meeting in the evening, the minister for public relations Narottam Mishra told reporters "State cabinet has given the nod to the proposal of amending MP Ministers (Salaries and Allowances) Act 1972 through an ordinance."
Mishra said that the amendment is being made to ensure continuity in the facilities given to former chief ministers like a cabinet member.
According to this proposal, the former chief ministers, who were elected from the state, would be eligible for the benefits like a cabinet minister.
