Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Sitasharan Sharma has called an all-party meet tomorrow after BJP lawmakers complained that Opposition members were unnecessarily disrupting House proceedings during the Question Hour.
Several BJP MLAs said they could not raise issues concerning their constituencies due to the disruption.
Today, of the 25 listed questions, only five were taken up for discussion because of the frequent disruptions and arguments between the Treasury and the Opposition benches.
BJP MLA Anil Firozia, whose question was listed at number 14 but did not come up, complained to the Speaker that some members, mainly from the Opposition "who wanted to prove their importance", kept interrupting the House unnecessarily.
"Why should we come to the Vidhan Sabha when we cannot bring up issues related to the public? We are answerable to the people of our constituency who elected us," Firozia said.
Senior BJP MLA Girish Gautam, who is the chairperson of the assembly's appropriation committee, requested Sharma to ensure that no member jumps into the well of the House during the Question Hour.
As many questions as possible should be discussed during this period, he said. Other BJP members echoed him.
The Speaker then called an all-party meeting on the issue in his chamber tomorrow at 10.30 am.
