Two persons were feared to have drowned as a boat carrying 16 persons turned turtle in the Tapti river near Khurda village, a senior police official said.
Fourteen of them managed to reach the banks, but Madan (7) and Katobai (40) were swept away, Betul superintendent of police Sudhir Laad said, adding that serach was on to trace them.
The river was in flood.
As there is no bridge to connect Khurda and Palanga villages, boats are used to cross the river.
