Mizoram People's Conference (MPC) today accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of neglecting the "Christian-dominated" state.
Without directly referring to the recent visit of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to Bru relief camps in Tripura, the statement issued by the MPC said Union ministers refused to visit Mizoram but used to call the chief minister to attend a meeting in neighbouring states.
"If the Union ministers wanted to take up issues regarding Mizoram, they should directly come to the state to make on-the spot assessment," the statement said, adding that they wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi to "explain" why none of his ministers were yet to visit this north-eastern state.
Singh, who had visited the Bru relief camps in North Tripura and Agartala on Saturday last, sent his tour programme to Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla in which it was mentioned that he would hold talks with the chief ministers of Mizoram and Tripura in Agartala on the same day, a government official here said.
"Lal Thanhawla did not go to Agartala as he received the Union Minister's tour programme only after reaching the Mizoram-Myanmar border Champhai town where he had important programme," the official reiterated.
