MPCC delegation meets CM, seeks 24-hour power for agri purpose

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) members today asked Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to make a provision to ensure the 24-hour electricity supply for agriculture purpose in the state.
The MPCC office-bearers under its president Manikrao Thakre also demanded that seeds, fertilisers, medicines etc. be made available to farmers at affordable prices, during their meeting with Chavan.
The delegation also sought allowance of Rs 1000 each for the beneficiaries of the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yogana and its time-bound disbursal, a release said.
They also asked Chavan to ensure that students get their caste validation certificate without ant hassles.
"The delegation also demanded that hospitals under the Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Scheme should be graded properly. Similarly, the loopholes in implementation of the Food Security Act be removed and pending compensation package for the hailstorm-hit farmers be provided immediately," the release said.
Earlier, the MPCC office-bearers in a meeting discussed issues concerning the welfare of a cross section of the society and the need to address them urgently by government.
Besides Thakare, senior Congress leader and Forest Minister, Patangrao Kadam was prominent among those present at the meeting.
