Members of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) today staged a sit-in demonstration here to protest against the "interference" of the BJP-led NDA government in Congress-ruled states.
Newly-appointed president of MPCC, T N Haokip, told reporters that he strongly condemned the "undemocratic and vindictive" actions of the NDA government, particularly regarding the imposition of President's rule in Congress-ruled states such as Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Apprehensive that such actions might be taken in Congress-ruled Manipur as well, the former PHED minister Haokip said Congress will have to save the country from the clutches of its rival.
Party MLAs, Congress Women Front, National Student's Union of India, Congress Seva Dal Workers and other volunteers participated in the demonstration, which was held in front of its office here, a party spokesperson said.
