MPCC slams Raj over his idea to divert Shivaji memorial fund

Maharashtra Congress today criticised MNS chief Raj Thackeray over his reported suggestion to divert Rs 100 crore initial budgetary provision for constructing Maratha warrior king Shivaji's statue in the Arabian Sea, to provide relief to the commuters paying toll.
"Raj Thackeray wants to remain in the limelight by making statements that the money allocated for the Shivaji statue be diverted for toll commuters' relief. He will come to know what is right and what is wrong during the elections," Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief Manikrao Thakre told reporters after launching party's six campaign raths.
Raj has reportedly offered his suggestion to the state government to ease commuters' toll pain by using Rs 100 crore cleared by the Cabinet for installation of a statue of warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji.

"It is our policy that a huge statue of Shivaji Maharaj should be constructed in the Arabian Sea. Also, a memorial for Dr B R Ambedkar will be built, for which, the Centre has given its nod," the Congress leader said.
He also said that Congress' rath yatra would be held to connect people.
