Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today ruled out his resignation in the wake of state Congress attack on him over the alleged tampering of evidence in the MPPEB scam.
"If I have to resign based on allegation made by Congress party, I would have resigned 100 times by now. They keep doing tbis. When there is no truth where is the reason to resign," he told NDTV.
Chouhan added that there was "no reason" to handover the probe into the exam scam to CBI as the High Court and the Supreme Court have earlier said that the probe carried out by the Special Investigation Team constituted in this regard was going "on track."
He also said his and his party's popularity in the state has been "gaining" and hence he has become an "eyesore" amongst the opposition Congress.
"Earlier also they (Congress) have made allegations and they have approached the High Court and Supreme Court and they have not been successful. But I can tell you that all of this (allegations) is untrue, baseless and meant to confuse. I cannot think of doing wrong...It was me who ordered an inquiry in this case," he said.
The CM alleged that the state Congress leadership was targeting him because the party faced a rout in the recently- concluded municipal corporation polls in the state where the Congress lost all 14 seats.
"The Congress is not able to digest the fact that a common man is the CM of the state for this long time...The 'rajas and maharajas' are not happy to see this," he said.

He said the faction-ridden Congress party in the state has come together to collectively oppose him.
Chouhan said that he would "consider" filing a defamation suit against Congress leader Digvijay Singh as his personal allegations against him are false and an attempt to "influence the investigation" in the scam.
Top Congress leaders in Bhopal yesterday had attacked Chouhan on the issue of MPPEB scam alleging the original excel sheet seized from a computer was tampered with to shield him and his family and demanded his resignation.
