Suspended IPS officer R K Shivhare, an accused in the Pre-PG Test for admission in Post-Graduate medical courses besides the police recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh, was sent to jail by a court here after his police remand ended.

Shivhare surrendered before the Special Task Force (STF) on April 21 and was sent to judicial custody on Thursday following the completion of his two-day police remand, police sources said today.

However, he was shifted to jail yesterday as by the time court gave orders, the hour to enter the prison was over.

At the time of suspension earlier this year, he was posted as Deputy Inspector General (DIG), sources said.

Shivhare was accused of getting his daughter Neha and her husband Ajay Anand admitted in Pre-PG 2012 (conducted by Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board - MPPEB) courses fraudulently following which they secured fifth and seventh positions in the merit list.

Both his daughter and her husband too were arrested and later released on bail, sources said.

Shivhare was also accused of irregularities in connection with the recruitment of subedar, sub-inspector and platoon commander examination of 2012 conducted by MPPEB.

The STF had earlier announced a reward of Rs 3,000 against Shivhare, who was posted as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and went absconding after the probe agency registered a case against him and directed him to appear before it.
