MPs, Bollywood stars to play T20 match to spread TB awareness

Parliamentarians and Bollywood actors will play a friendly T20 cricket match here tomorrow and pledge to lend their support to make India tuberculosis-free by 2025.
"TB accounts for 1,400 deaths in India every day. The country has 27 per cent of TB patients of the world," BJP MP from Hamirpur Anurag Thakur said at a press conference here.
"TB-Free India summit is being held where all stakeholders including Union and state ministers, MPs, public health experts have congregated to formulate a vision document and roadmap for a TB-free India by 2025," he said.
Bollywood actor Bobby Deol said, "Me and my colleagues in the film industry would like to extend all possible support in this mission. We will do our bit to create more awareness about the TB."
Those attending the summit include Union Health minister J P Nadda, Punjab Governor V P Badnore, Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Leader of Opposition in Himachal Pradesh Assembly P K Dhumal, Niti Aayog member Bibek Debroy and a host of Bollywood actors.
