Many MPs, keen to spend their MPLAD funds on rail projects involving improvement of passenger amenities and construction of foot overbridges in their areas, discussed the issues with railway authorities, said a senior Northern Railway official present in the meeting.
The meeting with public representaives was organised as part of the pre-budget exercise to know about the problems being faced in five divisons of Northern Railways.
Those who participated in the meeting include Krishan Pal Gurjar, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Members of Parliament Udit Raj, Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Ramesh Chander Kaushik, Raj Kumar Saini, Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh, besides besides representatives of Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan, and Charanjeet Singh Rori, MP.
MPs will be sending their suggestions for the Rail Budget to Northern Railway shortly, the official said.
Northern Railway has constituted a committee of MPs in all its five divisions so that the railways could address people's problems on priority, besides obtaining a feed-back on people's expectations from the public transporter.
