"Bengal might be leading in the sector but the condition is alarming and future is uncertain as a large number of units are getting sick... This is because units are not getting land, power, water, communication," Mishra said while speaking at an interactive session organised by the Merchant Chamber of Commerce here.
According to the Minister though the state has 25 lakh MSME units, around 94 per cent of the them have no reach to the financial assistance.
"Besides, there are the procedural impediments where you have to satisfy so many conditions under various laws to get the requisite permission and registration. While land is a big problem for the industry across India, the condition of West Bengal in that respect is alarming," he said.
