The base camp of the world's highest peak was shut down for security reasons following the 7.9-magnitude temblor that killed nearly 9,000 people, including climbers and guides, on the Nepalese side of the Everest.
Despite the reopening of the base camp, roads leading to the base camp will be subject to periodic traffic controls or remain closed, state-run Xinhua news agency reported citing a spokesperson with the tourism bureau of Tingri County today.
During the April 25 earthquake in Nepal, some parts of southern Tibet were also badly shaken. At least 26 people were killed in Tibet due the temblor.
