He will hold the post for a period of five years from the date of assuming charge, according to an order issued by the Union Ministry of Shipping.
The Vizag Port Trust chairman post has been lying vacant since September last when the incumbent Ajeya Kallam returned to his parent AP cadre.
Though Krishna Babu was selected in Kallam's place over two months ago, formal orders appointing him as Chairman were not issued so far.
The AP government issued an order this evening relieving Babu of the charge and appointing Principal Secretary-rank officer K Pradeep Chandra as the in-charge of Infrastructure and Investment Department.
