Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Seva Chayan Board today issued a statement to the media accusing Board member Keshri Nath Mishra of having "threatened to get me eliminated" and charged him with "carrying out a relentless slander campaign besides being always abusive towards me, constantly pointing to the fact that I am a dalit though he is my junior".

He claimed that Mishra had "masterminded an attempt on my life on October 20, 2011 when goons hired by him barged into my chamber and assaulted me in connection with which an FIR was lodged at the Colonelganj police station of the city".

However, when contacted, Mishra rebutted the allegations levelled by Verma and claimed that the Board Chairman "was scared of the disgrace he is bound to suffer, sooner or later, on account of his corrupt style of functioning".

"What else can you expect from an official who has brazenly helped his relatives in getting teaching jobs flouting all norms.

I have always felt that as a member of the Board, it is my duty to expose the Chairman's wrongdoings.

Had there been an iota of truth in Verma's allegations, he would have taken recourse to legal remedies instead of issuing statements to the media", Mishra claimed. PTI NAC ALM
