"The problems posed by militancy are complex in nature and can only be addressed effectively through a multi-pronged approach by looking at the root cause," Sangma said while addressing on Independence Day celebration at Polo grounds here.
He said these problems have also been posing serious challenges to many of our neighbouring states in the north east, particularly states having porous international border with neighbouring countries.
Maintaining that sustained peace and order are the pre-requisites for any development, Mukul said although the security situation in the Garo Hills region remains a cause of concern, the success of the security forces in the operations against the militants and the criminal elements has been commendable in the recent months.
On the inter-state boundary dispute with Assam, the Chief Minister said his is committed to address and resolve the issue.
