Trinamool Congress all-India General Secretary Mukul Roy today said he would not comment on the allegation by suspended party MP Kunal Ghosh that he was being made a scapegoat in the Saradha scam, saying 'nobody is above the law'.
"I am the senior-most member of the disciplinary committee of the party and he is a suspended member. How can I comment on what he says?" Roy told reporters when asked about Ghosh's claim that he was being made a scapegoat in the scam.
Asked about Rajya Sabha member's claim that he might be arrested by the Bidhannagar Police tomorrow in the scam, Roy said, "Law will take its own course, we have no agenda. Nobody is above the law."
Ghosh headed the media business of Saradha Group, a number of newspapers and news channels which abruptly closed down in April after the scam came to light.
Saradha Group chairman Sudipta Sen was arrested in April from Sonmarg in Jammu and Kashmir where he had fled with two senior company officials.
The Enforcement Directorate has estimated the scam amounted to around Rs 2,300 crore.
Ghosh, who was once close to party supremo Mamata Banerjee, has been interrogated by the Bidhannagar Police and Central agencies, Serious Fraud Investigation Office and the ED.
