The Uttar Pradesh unit of BJP termed the SP supremo's statement as "baseless" and said, "in reality, during the last nine months it was SP workers and leaders themselves who dented image of the party and the government with their activities."

Failing to check anarchy by his party leaders and workers, Mulayam was levelling baseless allegation on the opposition parties of hatching conspiracy, BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.

"From SP supremo Mulayam's statement given yesterday it is clear that he has lost control over the party as well as the government," Pathak alleged.

The SP supremo, while addressing a meeting of the district and city presidents yesterday, had alleged that opposition parties were behaving in an undemocratic manner, spreading canard about the government and people must be informed about the reality.

Yadav had said the party workers should remain cautious of the "conspiracies" to malign the image of the government and the organisation.

Pathak said before levelling charges against the opposition parties, it would have been better if Mulayam controls his workers.

"Even repeated warnings and advice to the party workers by the SP supremo to improve their behaviour has failed to make an impact," Pathak said.

The spokesman said sometimes Mulayam accuses opposition parties of hatching conspiracy and at times he blames the bureaucracy.

"This should be disclosed that who is hatching the conspiracy in reality," he said.

Pathak alleged that due to lax bureaucracy owing to several power centres in the government, SP workers and leaders have gone out of control.
