Samajwadi Party would consider an alternative front only after the 2014 general elections in which neither Congress nor BJP would get a majority, SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said today.
"The Congress will not get majority. Nor the BJP. Any alternative front only after the poll," Yadav told reporters during a private visit to the city.
"There are so many prospective political parties in the country which will emerge with new hopes after the next general elections. A federal front with emerging new powers can be discussed only after the next general elections," he said without elaborating.
Asked if he had any discussion with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who recently proposed a non-Congress, non-BJP federal front of regional parties, Yadav said, "I did not have any talk with her on the issue as yet. However, I enjoy a cordial relationship with her."
Samajwadi Party general secretary Sanjay Dalmia today called on some senior CPI(M) leaders at the CPI(M) state headquarters here.
