Multi-genre music festival from Feb 13

Over 350 artistes from different parts of the country would give 40 musical performances in Pushkar town of Ajmer district during the six-day-long 'Blue Lotus festival' beginning on February 13. In its first edition, it will feature a series of annual events presenting the richness of genres and styles of Sufi, folk, traditional, gypsy, tribal devotional, spiritual and indigenous music. Sambhav Bohra, the festival director, said here today that the event would provide an opportunity for local artistes to spread their music. Performances will be staged at multiple venues in Pushkar and included the lake, sand dunes and resorts, he said. Concerts will be themed on joyful wedding festivities, spiritual ceremonies, tribal rituals, folk dances of ancient communities, love songs from the desert peripheries and mythological tales of wandering ascetics, he added.
